ART by APES

The Canadian Ape Alliance is pleased to present exciting, original art pieces painted by chimpanzees and gorillas in the jungles of Cameroon. These young apes are orphans of the bushmeat trade and now live semi-independently in the Mefou Forest Reserve of the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund.

As an experiential exercise, Dr. Kerry Bowman and volunteers escorted the apes into the forests of the reserve, with watercolor paint and canvas in hand. Once they settled into the task of painting, the apes became extremely focused and determined in their work.

The result of this enriching experience is what you see here on this page. There are a limited number of paintings of this type available in the world today. Money raised through the sale of these paintings will go to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund to assist with their conservation programs.

If you wish to purchase one of these original pieces of art, or if you have any questions about them, please feel free to contact us.

The paintings are watercolors on canvas, and range in size between 16" x 20" and 30" x 30".
