How You Can Help - CONGO BARS

Congo bars

On a trip to the zoo, Annie and Emma learned that gorillas in the wild are in danger of extinction. Wanting to help, they found a plan to raise money. They melted chocolate, chopped nuts, cooked and stirred, and within a short time were wrapping their first batch of chocolate bars in foil and hand-coloured paper sleeves that said "SAVE THE GORILLAS."

Calling their product "Congo Bars," they set out to sell them to friends and neighbours in their community of Montreal West. In no time they had raised $46 and had orders for more. A second batch sold just as well. The girls then started making and selling bracelets and necklaces from seeds, beads and shells. The money is given to the Canadian Ape Alliance, and goes directly to the Congo to help with our programs.

Said Annie, "It’s fun, and I'm glad we are helping to save the gorillas. We just tried to think of something we could do."

Why not take a minute to try to think of what you can do? Every little action can help bring about big change.
